Day 1: Arrival Málaga – Mijas
You arrive at Málaga airport. Welcome to Andalucia! After you have picked up the rental car, you only have to drive about 20 minutes to reach your easy to find hotel in Mijas.
Mijas is a nice village where you can have a bite and a drink in the evening. Depending on your arrival time, this evening or otherwise the next morning an employee of Tejeda Travel will visit the hotel. You will receive the remaining travel documents and the course of the journey will be discussed with you. Your tour of Andalucia can start!

Day 2: Mijas – Ronda – Arcos de la Frontera
After breakfast, you will have a wonderful ride along the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park and arrive in Ronda (Mijas-Ronda: 2 hours, 100 km). There is plenty of time to visit the spectacularly located Ronda. The city is surrounded by mountains (hence the name) and divided by a deep gorge. The city is connected by the famous bridge Puente Nuevo, the highlight of Ronda. Then continue on the road to Arcos de la Frontera (Ronda – Arcos: 1.5 hours, 80 km). Of course you take the beautiful route through the Sierra de Grazalema. In Arcos you will stay in a pleasant hotel in the historical centre of the village. Arcos is a real Pueblo Blanco. Narrow streets and white houses decorated with lots of flowers.
Day 3: Arcos de la Frontera
There are many things to do in the Arcos area. If you like nature and especially birds, you can visit the Doñana Natural Park. Doñana is the largest Natural Park in southern Spain with more than 400 bird species including the flamingo. From Sanlucar de Barrameda (70 km from Arcos) there are beautiful boat trips through the park. If you prefer to go hiking, the Grazalema Natural Park is a must. This is perhaps the best hiking area in Andalucia. It is only half an hour drive from Arcos to the town of El Bosque, the starting point of several walking routes through this beautiful area.
It is also very nice to explore the area by car. There are many pueblos blancos (white villages) that you can visit.

Day 4: Arcos de la Frontera – Sevilla
The shortest route from Arcos to Sevilla is 100 km in 1.5 hours. You could visit Jerez de la Frontera on the way. Jerez is known for its sherry. It is possible to get a guided tour in one of the wineries. Interesting and tasty. This is also the city of the beautiful Andalucian horses. There are opportunities to attend training sessions or you can visit a equestrian show where the horses perform their skills. You will get all the information from us. On arrival in Sevilla you will drive to your beautiful hotel in the popular Santa Cruz district with the main attractions very close by. Although it is quite busy in Sevilla, you will be able to find the hotel and the parking garage with our clear route description. Of course there is still plenty of time for a city walk. Perhaps you could still attend a Flamenco show tonight. The addresses you will get from us.
Day 5: Sevilla
During this Self-drive tour Andalucia you have a whole day to discover Sevilla . There is a lot to see. The most famous sights are of course the giant Cathedral (the largest Gothic cathedral in the world) with the Giralda and the Alcázar; a beautiful structure (originally a fortress) that is on the list of World Heritage Sites. But Sevilla also has a number of interesting museums, such as the Flamenco Museum. You could take a tour of the bullring La Real Maestranza. Bullfighting will not be everyone’s taste, but it is an important aspect of Spanish culture. You can also enjoy life in the narrow streets, squares and bars. It buzzes until late at night…

Day 6: Sevilla – Córdoba
The shortest route from Sevilla to Córdoba is 150 km in 1.5 hours. Enough time for a detour to explore the region. For example, you could visit the Roman Itálica today. Here you will find an amphitheatre and well-preserved mosaics. Arriving in Córdoba, you will check-in to a nice hotel in the centre of the city. The hotel has its own parking facilities. In the evening, the narrow streets are a great place to wander.
Day 7: Córdoba
You have the whole day to visit Córdoba at your leisure. Córdoba was once the Islamic capital of the Iberian Peninsula. Of course, you should not miss the Mezquita, according to many the most beautiful building in Andalucia. In addition, Córdoba is best known for its Jewish quarter, a maze of small streets and patios. You can spend hours wandering around… There are plenty of wineries and tapas bars in Córdoba as well as excellent restaurants. If you really want to relax, the Hammam Baños Arabes is a must. You can relax in the Arabian atmosphere.

Day 8: Córdoba – Granada
Via the highway it is a 200 km drive in 2 hours. There are many opportunities during this ride. You can go hiking in the Sierra de las Subbéticas Natural Park. Beautiful flora and fauna and you can see many birds of prey here. You could also visit a bodega in Montilla, where sweet wine is made. A beautiful hotel, located between the Alhambra and the old town.
Day 9: Granada/Alhambra
Today you will explore the Alhambra. Beautiful Moorish palaces in landscaped gardens. We have arranged the entrance tickets in advance so that you can be sure that you are allowed everywhere. Of course the Alhambra is not the only thing you want to see from Granada. Most of the sights are just a short walk away. A walk through the Albayzin district is also a must. Here you will find typical small cottages decorated with a lot of flowers. In the evening you can enjoy one of the many squares of Granada.

Day 10: Granada – Nerja
Today you can drive to the coast to relax for a few more days. Via the motorway the distance is 100 km which can be travelled in 1.5 hours. Of course you could visit the Alpujarras, the southern side of the Sierra Nevada today. Charming villages in a beautiful landscape. Here you will find the famous hams that you have seen everywhere in the restaurants. Do you like winding mountain lanes with spectacular views? Then you could go via the road Suspiro del Moro. That takes about an hour longer. The hotel is centrally located in Nerja. Surrounded by cosy restaurants and very close to the beach. If you like a more tranquil environment, you might want to consider staying in a small-scale Bed & Breakfast just outside Nerja. It offers beautiful views and is a 5-minute drive from the beach. We would be happy to advise you on the right accommodation.
Day 11-14: Nerja
These days you can relax on one of Nerja’s small beaches. Or you drive a little bit further where you will have the beach almost for you alone. If you want to be more active, you might like to visit the famous caves of Nerja. There are also many nice walks or mountain bike tours in the nearby Tejeda Natural Park. Or you can make a trip to Málaga to visit the Picasso Museum. And in the evening enjoy a nice fish dish at the beach.
